Executive AI coaching in Kansas City
An executive who needs a vendor in the room to explain the decision is not ready.
kovac.ai coaches executives and leadership teams on AI. Coaching gives leaders ongoing time to build their own AI fluency, work through decisions and get honest answers as the technology changes. It is built for CEOs, C-suite leaders and business owners who need to lead AI adoption without becoming practitioners. We coach leaders across Kansas City and nationally, in person or virtually.
Leaders are expected to have answers on AI
Boards, employees and customers expect leadership to have a point of view on AI. Most executives are forming that view while running the business, sorting through vendor pitches, headlines and conflicting advice from their own teams. The questions go beyond strategy. Leaders are weighing what AI means for the organization, for each department and for the people who work for them. That is a lot to work through alone, and it rarely gets settled in a single workshop.
What coaching covers
- AI fluency. Understanding what AI can and cannot do, well enough to make sound decisions on budget, risk and priorities.
- Hands-on use. Working with AI tools on the leader's own work, so fluency comes from experience rather than briefings.
- Decisions as they come up. Talking through investments, vendor proposals, use cases and policy questions before they are made.
- Leading the change. Planning how to talk with teams about AI, including the concerns people have about their jobs.
- Staying current. Keeping up with meaningful changes in the technology without following every announcement.
How coaching works
Every coaching engagement starts with a conversation about the leader's goals and where they are with AI today. From there, we set a schedule and focus areas that fit the leader or the leadership team. Sessions are practical and driven by questions; the leader does most of the talking, and we listen before we advise. Coaching can stand on its own, follow a leadership workshop or run alongside a broader AI enablement engagement.
Honest answers, human-first
Coaching only works if the advice is honest. We talk openly about what AI does well, where it falls short and where the risks are, and we say so when we do not know something. Our approach is human-first, so coaching also covers the people side of adoption: how changes will affect employees and how to keep them informed. Recommendations are based on what the business needs rather than on any particular platform.
Built by someone who started as a skeptic
Chris Kovac founded kovac.ai after 30 years in marketing and technology. He was skeptical of AI at first. Before he advised anyone else, he put it to work inside a business he ran, under real business pressure, to see what held up and what did not. What worked became the foundation for how kovac.ai helps organizations today. It is also why we keep the work practical and the language plain; leaders do not need a technical vocabulary to make good decisions about AI.
Based in Kansas City
kovac.ai is based in Kansas City and coaches leaders across the metro, including Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Lee's Summit and the Northland. We also coach executives nationally, in person or virtually.
Frequently asked questions
What is executive AI coaching?
Executive AI coaching is ongoing support that helps leaders build AI fluency, make sound decisions about AI and lead adoption in their organizations. It focuses on the leader's own questions, decisions and use of AI rather than a fixed curriculum.
Who should consider AI coaching?
AI coaching suits CEOs, C-suite leaders and business owners who are responsible for AI decisions but do not have the time or background to become practitioners. It also suits leadership teams that want a shared understanding of AI before setting direction.
How is AI coaching different from AI training?
AI training teaches a group a set of skills in a structured session. AI coaching is ongoing and personal, built around one leader's or one leadership team's questions and decisions over time. Many leaders benefit from both.
Do executives need technical skills to lead AI adoption?
No. Executives need to be AI fluent, not technical. That means understanding what AI can and cannot do, what a realistic use case looks like and what to ask vendors and internal teams.
Can a whole leadership team be coached together?
Yes. kovac.ai coaches individual executives and full leadership teams. Team coaching helps leaders build a shared understanding of AI and make decisions from the same starting point.
Is executive AI coaching available virtually?
Yes. kovac.ai offers executive AI coaching in person and virtually, for leaders in Kansas City and across the country.
