AI enablement consulting in Kansas City

The license was purchased. The organization was not.

kovac.ai is a Kansas City AI consultancy that helps organizations adopt AI across the business. We work with leadership teams to understand where the organization stands today, where it needs to go and what it will take to bring its people along. The work includes assessments and roadmaps, governance, training, executive coaching and hands-on builds. We serve organizations throughout the Kansas City metro and clients across the country.

AI is hard

AI is hard, and most of what gets said about it makes it sound easy. Organizations buy tools before anyone decides what problem those tools should solve. Employees get licenses without training, then hear conflicting advice from vendors, coworkers and whatever they read that week. Some teams stop using the tools; others use them with no guidelines at all. Nobody sets out to create that situation. It happens because the technology changes faster than most organizations can plan for it.

We treat it as a business problem with people at the center of it. The technology is rarely what holds an organization back. What holds it back is a lack of AI adoption across the business that shows a measurable return. That has to be solved by leadership, and it is where every engagement starts.

Built by someone who started as a skeptic

Chris Kovac founded kovac.ai after 30 years in marketing and technology. He was skeptical of AI at first. Before he advised anyone else, he put it to work inside a business he ran, under real business pressure, to see what held up and what did not. What worked became the foundation for how kovac.ai helps organizations today. It is also why we keep the work practical and the language plain; leaders do not need a technical vocabulary to make good decisions about AI.

How we help

Every organization needs a different mix of the work below. Most engagements start with an assessment; some start with governance or training. The pieces are designed to work together.

Why we start with strategic pods

Company-wide rollouts rarely work, because departments have different needs. HR and marketing often have straightforward uses for AI; finance and accounting have compliance requirements to work through; development and data teams may already be ahead of everyone else. We start with strategic pods, small teams that are already using AI to solve business problems. We help those teams succeed, and then they share what worked with their peers. People are far more willing to try AI when they see coworkers getting results with it.

What we ask of clients

Every organization is different, so every engagement is built from scratch. The work is collaborative, and it takes time from the leadership team and department heads. That time is what makes the plan accurate. Our recommendations are based on what the business needs rather than on any particular platform.

Based in Kansas City

Frequently asked questions

What is AI enablement?

AI enablement is the work of helping an organization adopt AI across the business in a way that produces measurable results. It usually includes an assessment of current AI use, a roadmap, governance, training for leaders and teams and change management. The goal is for people to use AI well in their daily work, not simply to have access to it.

Why is AI adoption so hard?

AI adoption is hard because it is a business and people challenge more than a technology challenge. Organizations often buy tools before defining the problem, skip training and leave employees without guidelines. The technology also changes quickly, so plans go stale. Adoption improves when leadership sets priorities, teams are trained and progress is measured.

How is AI enablement different from AI training?

AI training teaches people how to use AI. AI enablement also decides where AI should be used, sets the guidelines and lays out the plan, with training as one part of it. Training without a plan behind it often leads to a short rise in usage that fades.

What does human-first AI mean?

Human-first AI means starting with people and the business problem rather than the technology. AI takes on repetitive work so people can focus on work that needs their judgment. When AI changes a role, the people affected should hear about it early and have a path forward, including retraining wherever possible.

What are strategic pods?

Strategic pods are small teams inside an organization that are already using AI to solve business problems. kovac.ai starts adoption with these teams, helps them succeed and then has them share results with their peers. Adoption spreads more easily when employees see coworkers getting results.

What size organizations does kovac.ai work with?

kovac.ai works mainly with organizations of about 50 to 500 employees and also has experience with much larger companies. The best fit is a leadership team willing to put time into a collaborative engagement.

Does kovac.ai work outside Kansas City?

Yes. kovac.ai is based in Kansas City and serves organizations throughout the metro, and it works with clients nationally, on site or remotely.
